Following the conclusion of the program on Saturday
afternoon, Symposium attendees are invited to further explore the
horticultural richness of the Philadelphia area with an optional trip to
Chanticleer. Regarded as one of the most innovative public gardens in the
United States, Chanticleer is the former estate of the Rosengarten family.
The 35-acre site was originally noted for its majestic trees and verdant
lawns, but over the last decade the focus has been on developing creative
themed gardens that feature rich colors and intriguing textures, where
foliage and flowers share equal billing. Highlights range from a
nontraditional vegetable garden to sculptural features in the landscape and
courtyards filled with thought-provoking combinations of hardy and tropical
plants. Dinner is included with this trip.
