Thank you for your interest in hosting your
event at River Farm. Located five miles south of Old Town
Alexandria, River Farm rests on twenty-five acres of gardens
and forest overlooking the Potomac River. Tucked
conveniently close to the Washington DC metro area, it
serves as an ideal location for your upcoming social
gathering or business get together. The manor-style house,
formal and informal gardens, and sprawling lawns offer
endless options for your creativity in planning an
unforgettable event.
Events may be hosted both outdoors on the grounds and inside
the main estate house. The house, which is registered by the
Fairfax County Historical Society, includes the following
areas for your use:
Ballroom: Rectangular space measuring
45 feet by 20 feet with a capacity of 80 guests (50 seated).
Ideal for workshops, an elegant dining area, or for dancing.
Parlor – Fully furnished sitting room overlooking the
Potomac River. Cozy setting for small meetings or workshops
(25 guests).
Dining Room – A refined space opening
onto covered porches overlooking the Potomac River. The
square layout can accommodate 20 seated guests and serves as
the perfect location for displaying your wedding cake or
hosting cocktails.
Foyer - Charming entrance hall featuring a
hand-painted floral frieze. With direct access to the Parlor
and the Dining Room, the foyer is an excellent location to
disseminate information.
Country Kitchen – Available to caterers for
preparation and heating of food.
Covered Porches – Large, protected
spaces afford guests brilliant views with protection from
the elements.
Flagstone Patio - Adjacent to the main house
ballroom, the 80 foot by 30 foot patio is a versatile
outdoor area. From April through October (in-season), rental
of River Farm includes a tent canopy covering the patio.
Gardens – Most of the property is reminiscent of a
20th Century “Gentleman’s Home” landscaped with boxwood
hedges and large trees. Additionally, the Society has
established ornamental and educational gardens throughout
the property.
